Welcome to Kent Surf forecast page. This is just our take on the potential local conditions and what we believe it will be. No guarantees so don’t get all up and down if it is wrong ever, it is purely a guide from local knowledge and years of forecasting the area.
Overview:
Saturday and Sunday, 27 and 28 May 2023.
Ok, this weekend will see surf along the North East side of Kent; basically, every spot in Thanet will have a wave of some sort, it is wind chop material though so nothing to write home about and I am afraid to say no actual classic conditions really anywhere. However, with the localised wind sometimes things can change but it is highly unlikely. The south-facing beaches of Kent going into East Sussex will have some conditions too, and it is possible Greatstone on Sea could be ok for longboarding at times in low water and a couple of other spots that work on an ENE and NE swell. The Bank Holiday Monday looks set to be a large North East windswell and strong onshore conditions.
Saturday: The wind will be from East North East more on Saturday, which is not ideal but will give some swell in most spots; you can expect waves literally everywhere, but it comes down to where the best spot for the day will be, and that is a hard one to call. It will depend on the time of the day that you surf and also what equipment; you most definitely will find waves that can be ridden with all board types at certain locations. Not a great swell by any means but surfable.
Sunday: Expect a North East wind to start lighter in the morning and pick up throughout the day; the waves will be smaller in the morning and keep building as the day goes on. It is windswell but is travelling from well up the North Sea, so will have some bigger sets of waves. The wind will be the tough one here, with strong rip tides along the Thanet coastline. The better spots will be Stone Bay and Viking Bay to avoid the full-blown conditions.
Watch out for Rip Tides this weekend for sure, as the tide will move around a lot. Take care out in the water.
